This is a story of an artist’s steadfast loyalty to his art.
Born in 1940, Peh Eng Seng is a celebrated, established watercolourist and highly acclaimed second-generation Singaporean artist.
Working with watercolour, Ph paints in a realistic style and draws inspiration from his surroundings. The sights and sounds, the shifting atmosphere, light and the complex interactions between people and place are captured by Peh in his artworks as he paints en plein air.
For more than a century, Peh has persisted in his art profession, building up a monumental portfolio. Driven by the passion to document the true and authentic flavour of a place, Peh's works range from landscapes to seascapes and the versatility and diversity is a true affirmation of his techniques and
skills.
Peh is constantly on the move to seek out places that have not been altered by rapid development in the name of progress. This brought him to Malaysia, China, India and even the United Kingdom. He has exhibited widely locally and in the region. In addition, he also won the Australian Art Award in 1985 and IBM Art Award in 1986.
